Renown Health, a private non-profit health care network, is Northern Nevada’s largest employer, with over 5,500 employees, is now expanding to Southern Nevada. The new primary care clinic is located in South Reno, in The Summit Mall. The clinic’s focus, on a family practice, has amenities that provide a comfortable living room environment for patients and a conference room designed for staff members to consult with their patients.
The building was demolished in November of 2016. The former mall stores have either closed or relocated. The Architecture and engineer consultants, located in Reno, completed their work installing the mechanical, plumbing and electrical in February of 2017.
The clinic occupies 10,000 sq. ft. of space in The Summit Mall. There will be 11 hospital staff members with an expected increase in a primary care physician and a nurse practitioner.
Dr. Marie McCormack, a family medicine doctor, associated with Renown Hospital, commented that the health care debate leaves some uncertainty. However, she is confident because there is increased growth of the population in the Truckee Meadows, located in the South Meadows area, and would support a primary care facility. The addition of the South Reno hospital compliments Renown’s 12 primary care clinics in the Reno area located in Sparks, Carson City, Fallon, and Fernley.
